Commonwealth Bank to close

The Commonwealth Bank has announced that the Molong and Blayney branches of the bank will close on Friday 4 June.

This will also be the last day that the Commonwealth ATM will operate. The decision has elicited an angry reaction across all sectors of the community. Businesses and locals will have to travel 35km to Orange to access banking and fee free ATM facilities.

In a statement to the Molong Express Norm Swift, the bank’s Regional General Manager said … “While we recognise branches play an important role in delivering great service, many of our customers are increasingly choosing to use our online channels for their banking. … We’ve also found that 15% of customers from Molong are already visiting the Orange branch. … Additionally, the Molong LPO Australia Post outlet a block down the road is available for customers to conduct personal and business banking transactions such as withdrawals, deposits and bill payments including passbooks during normal business hours.”
