The Mayor of Cabonne Council, Councillor Ian Gosper, has announced that Cabonne Council has appointed a new General Manager. Mr Stephen Harding was appointed at a Special meeting of Council held yesterday and will take up the position immediately.
The Mayor said Mr Harding had been chosen from a strong field of 18 applicants.
The Mayor said “Council was not in a position to appoint a new General Manager since the departure of Mr Andrew Hopkins in August last year. Due to the merger proposal involving Cabonne Council, the Council was prohibited from making a permanent appointment. Mr Harding had acted as General Manager of Cabonne Council since August of last year.”
“It is now pleasing that the Council will not be part of a merger arrangement and so we have moved to appoint a General Manager” the Mayor said.
Mr Harding is the current Director of Finance & Corporate Services at Cabonne Council a position he has held for 22 years. He was formerly the General Manager at Wentworth Shire Council. Mr Harding resides in Molong with his wife Gabriele.
Mr Harding said he is looking forward to working with the councillors, staff and the community to make Cabonne an even better place to live and raise a family.
The Mayor said Council would now be moving to make other permanent appointments within the senior ranks of staff.
“We are now looking forward to a period of stability and progress for Cabonne Council” the Mayor concluded.
