Community donations sought to rebuild Cenotaph

The Molong RSL Sub Branch members are seeking grants and pursuing other fund raising activities in the hope of having a new Cenotaph in place on the Village Green in time for Anzac Day 2018 and to commemorate the end of WW1.

Molong, traditionally, held Anzac Day Services in front of the Cabonne Council administration building in Bank Street – where roles of honour from early wartime involvement stand.

The late Bob Adams had a strong belief in a Cenotaph being built on the Village Green where Sub-Branch members and returned servicemen and women, school children and community members could stand together on the lawns under the beautiful trees.

Unfortunately, this Cenotaph was accidentally broken late last year and the clocks are ticking to raise enough money in time to have the new Cenotaph built and placed in time for 25 April 2018 – Anzac Day.

“We’ve designed the new Cenotaph with the style and placement in accordance with the new Plan of Management as set out by Cabonne Council for this beautiful ‘green” said Molong RSL Sub Branch President, David Bloomfield.

“As this is a community project which will greatly enhance the area could we ask the people of the district for a donation to assist us in the construction of the new Cenotaph?”

Contact David Bloomfield on 0419435717 for more information about the Cenotaph and how to donate.
